FAQ
Why are you only shipping to Canada and the USA?
I would love to ship worldwide, so I started looking into how to ship to the UK and the EU. As a senior I find the customs regulations and VAT requirements baffling, and as a sole proprietor, I can't afford a lawyer to help me comply, so my options are limited.
Will you be restocking sold out designs?
Yes! Because the fabric Is printed on demand, the popular designs will be available as long as there is interest.
Yarn minders or DPN minders that have been made with fabric that I'm not able to buy again, or designs that my shop visitors don't seem to be interested in will be clearly marked as discontinued. They may appear in a 'Clearance' section if necessary to make room for new designs.
Will seasonal items be available out of season?
Seasonal designs, such as fall, winter, spring and summer collections will be retired at the end of the season, to return when the sun cycles around to their time again. Other holiday collections (Christmas, Valentines, Canada Day, Halloween) will also await recycling on the back shelf. If you really, really want to buy an out of season item, contact me. I may have some left I'd be happy to make available.
Why do you use loops instead of metal rings for your stitch markers?
Unlike hard metal rings, my stitch markers are made with loops of plastic coated steel wire. Light, strong and flexible, the loops settle in between your stitches, and slip easily along your needle as you work. Since they don't interfere with your fingers, they are very comfortable to knit with.
They can also accommodate many different sizes of needles, and they are easy to customize for very large needles.
If you are knitting with needles larger than 10mm (US 15, Canadian/UK 000) and would like some custom stitch markers made for you, you can use the Contact Me page to make a request. I'd be happy to make something special for you.
The loops look so flimsy. Will the stitch markers break?
Appearances can be deceiving! The wire is coated with plastic, but the actual wire is made of steel. All the crimps are strength tested before they are packaged. The stitch markers are light but strong, and where charms are attached, I use double jump rings (like split rings used for key rings) that fasten the charms firmly onto the loops and will not come apart the way single jump rings can.
What size stitch markers should I get for different sized needles?
I sell two sizes of loop markers: large loop adjustable and mini loops:
- Mini loop markers are made with smaller charms or 6mm beads and will accommodate needles up to 5mm (US 8, Canadian/UK 6). They are great for sock and lace knitting.
- Large loop markers are made withlarger charms or 8mm beads and will accommodate needles up to 10mm (US 15, Canadian/UK 000). They are also adjustable - if you want smaller loops, simply snug the top accent bead up closer to your needle.
- Extra large loop markers can be made to order for 15mm, 20mm or 25mm needles (US sizes 19, 36 and 50) with larger focal beads. If you are knitting with needles larger than 10mm (US 15, Canadian/UK 000) and would like some custom stitch markers made for you, you can use the Contact Me page to make a request. I'd be happy to make something special for you.
Will the charms tarnish? How can I clean them if they do?
The charms and metal parts of my other notions do not contain silver. They are made of a zinc alloy, rigorously tested to ensure they are free of toxic metals such as lead, nickel and cadmium. They will, however, gradually tarnish over time when they are exposed to air. Keeping them in an air tight container or plastic bag when not in use will prolong the shine.
If they do tarnish, they can be cleaned with non-gel toothpaste and a soft toothbrush.
